Common Questions

What should I expect during my first physiotherapy session?

“Your first session is primarily an assessment and planning visit. We’ll begin with a detailed discussion about your condition, medical history, and goals. Our team will perform a physical examination to assess your movement, strength, and function specific to your condition. Based on this assessment, we’ll explain our findings, discuss treatment options, and begin some initial treatment if appropriate. You’ll leave with a clear understanding of your condition and an initial home exercise program. First sessions typically last 45-60 minutes.”

How many physiotherapy sessions will I need?

“This varies greatly depending on your condition, its severity, how long you’ve had it, and how consistently you follow the home exercise program. Some Acute conditions may require 3-5 sessions, sub-acute conditions might resolve in 2-3 weeks, while chronic conditions or post-surgical rehabilitation might require 4-8 weeks or more. During your first assessment, we’ll provide an estimate based on your specific situation, and we’ll regularly reassess progress and adjust the plan as needed.”

Does physiotherapy hurt?

“Some techniques may cause temporary discomfort, particularly when working on painful areas, but treatment should never cause severe pain. We always work within your comfort level and adjust techniques based on your feedback. Many patients experience relief even during their first session. We believe the philosophy ‘no pain, no gain’ is outdated—effective physiotherapy can be comfortable while still producing results.”

What should I wear to my physiotherapy session?

“Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes that allow movement and access to the area being treated. For lower body issues, shorts or loose pants that can be rolled up are ideal. For upper body concerns, tank tops or t-shirts work well. Athletic wear is often perfect. If you’re coming directly from work and don’t have appropriate clothing, we provide shorts and gowns when necessary and we have changing room too for your convenience.”

Is home physiotherapy as effective as clinic treatment?

“Yes, home physiotherapy can be equally effective and sometimes even more beneficial as it allows treatment in your actual living environment. We bring portable versions of essential equipment to your home. The main differences are that some specialized equipment might only be available in the clinic, and home visits typically cost slightly more due to travel time. The best option depends on your specific condition, mobility, and preferences.”

Do I need a doctor’s referral to see you?

“No, you don’t need a referral to consult with us. Physiotherapists in India are primary healthcare providers, meaning you can book directly. However, if you’re claiming insurance, some policies require a referral, so check your coverage. If you’ve had recent imaging or medical reports, bringing these to your first appointment is helpful but not mandatory.” If in case we require any opinion will definitely recommend the patient for the same as per patient’s convenience and requirement.

Will my insurance cover physiotherapy?

“Many insurance plans cover physiotherapy, but coverage varies widely between providers and policies. Most plans require a doctor’s referral and may limit the number of sessions covered. We provide detailed receipts with treatment codes that you can submit to your insurance. We recommend checking with your insurance provider about your specific coverage before beginning treatment.”

What if I don’t see improvement after several sessions?

“If you’re not progressing as expected after 3-4 sessions, we’ll reassess your condition and may modify the treatment approach or frequency. Sometimes we might suggest additional diagnostic testing or consultation with other specialists. Not all conditions resolve at the same rate, but a lack of any improvement typically indicates we need to adjust our strategy. We’re committed to finding the most effective approach for each patient, even if that occasionally means referring to another specialist.”
